The German Sustainability Action Days were launched in 2012 to enhance visibility throughout Germany of real commitment that sets an example to others and to foster public awareness of the topic of sustainability. From 18 September to 08 October 2023, we would again like to encourage many people to set an example for a more sustainable world in numerous actions - for the first time on the Joint Action for Sustainable Development!

About the project

Whether it’s the climate crisis, species extinction or social inequality, we are facing major global challenges. The Joint Action for Sustainable Development is an open platform for everyone working towards a sustainable society. Launched by the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), it is based on an initiative from the Federal and Länder Governments. Because we all need to work together if we are to achieve the ambitious sustainability goals!

What happens next 

A beta version of the online platform will go live in September 2022, boosting visibility for the sustainability activities of organisations from all sectors of society and providing a space for networking. Moving forward, we will add further functions, such as an event calendar, an overview of good-practice examples, and open social innovation processes. Help us shape the new functions via our “roadmap”! 

Our partners 

The four Regional Hubs for Sustainability Strategies (RENN) are central partners for the Joint Action for Sustainable Development in the different German regions. As the Joint Action uses open source, we cooperate with mapping projects that have already done a great deal of groundwork at local level or on specific topics. Major organisations also support the Joint Action for Sustainable Development as network partners.
